Goodman has a cross-reference chart showing all their approved outdoor/indoor/furnace/air-handler unit combinations. This is a 3-ton A/C coil but it has only a 2-ton heating capacity when used with a heat pump. The liquid line fitting should have been attached to the case during shipping but my unit arrived with the fitting loose in the box which damaged a bunch of the soft, aluminum fins on the coil. Note that Goodman has a A/C-only TXV and a separate Heat Pump-compatible TXV. My unit came without a plug for the secondary, optional condensate overflow port.

I got this cased evaporator as part of a complete AC/furnace split system I got from AC Wholesalers. A/C works very well now in my 850 sq ft. house. On sunny days, my house's bricks get pretty hot, which in turn warms up the inside of the house, but this A/C system with this evaporator does work well, keeping the house at around 74 deg fairly evenly throughout while it's 90+ deg outside. Since I've only had the A/C going for a month now, I can't vouch for how long this evaporator will work for, but since I can't imagine anything going wrong with an evaporator, I will say this model is a good purchase to get. It fit perfectly onto my furnace. I only needed to put spongey tape around the flange on top of the furnace, then set the evaporator case on top of it. No need for other fasteners. It's sealed perfectly.

Great, but quirky install

Thise is a great evaporator unit (inside unit) for placing on top of a Goodman furnace.
Three notes:
If the outside unit you are getting with this is less than 5 tons, you need to install a TDX unit which downsizes the capacity. There is no explanation of the piece and it shows as a ""Framgizzle"" in a box. You essentially need a pro to install the piece.

The unit comes with a tray on the bottom that needs to be removed in most cases. The install instructions refer to this obliquely without giving a picture. When you try and install it on top of the furnace, the reason it will not fit is two pieces of tin that remove with two screws each and then it fits.

Get some metal tape. The unit installs by gravity on top of the furnace and needs something to hold it in place and reduce air leakage. Metal HVAC tape does a nice job for all of it.
